Kata Pro-Light Source-261 PL Backpack for Video D-SLR Camera with Stabilizer and upto 17″ Screen Sized Laptop

Tough, Versatile and Huge

By Justin the VideoStoryteller from Washington, DC on 9/4/2011
4out of 5

Pros: Adjustable Harness, Easily Accessible Equipment, Strong Construction, Roomy

Cons: Heavy

Best Uses: Transporting Gear, Protecting Gear, Storing Gear

Describe Yourself: Pro Photographer

Was this a gift?: No

I use this bag to cart around my 7D and all of my video gear including Lenses, miss, a tripod (that attaches to the bag) and lots of other odds and ends. Everything fits nicely and isn’t too packed in.

The only “downside” to this bag is it’s really heavy when you have everything in it. It does fit comfortably with all of the straps snapped and secured. I live in DC, so I am usually walking, Metroing or on a bike getting from place to place. I would recommend the insert trolley (or any handcart really) to help get the weight off of your back.

Highly recommend, fantastic bag.

My Bootcamp: Birthday Bootcamp

Type of Story: About Us, Product Description

Description: My Bootcamp is an out of the box approach to fitness. Grant Hill meets with his clients in open spaces and parks, armed with an interesting set of tools, to give them a unique workout.

For her 33rd birthday, Lisa Byrne hosted a Birthday Bootcamp. A group of friends joined her in an effective workout to celebrate.

As an “About Us” Video: My Bootcamp is has the great advantage of being a very visual business. It films well. There is a lot of action and interesting visuals. However, that isn’t all this “About Us” video accomplishes. It lets the viewer gets to know Grant Hill, the trainer and founder, a little better. Grant’s personality shines through in a way that can only be captured on video. He shares the story of what he is trying to accomplish, and the viewer can tell he is passionate and enjoys what he does.

As a “Product Demo” Video: The video also works as a “Product Demo” video. We get to see a variety of people at all different fitness levels going through a bootcamp. It introduces some of the exercises and equipment used in a bootcamp session. It also introduces the concept of the Birthday Bootcamp to viewers.

Let’s start a conversation about Video Content Marketing and Storytelling.

T-Mobile: Angry Birds Live

This is simple online video marketing at it’s best! T-Mobile has taken a subject that interests people, Angry Birds, and made a short, fun and very sharable video.

The video features a larger than life setup of Angry Birds. There is a giant screen to watch and a phone on a pedestal to use as a controller. The video takes a very surprising turn when the first bird is launched, and it shoots out of the side of the screen into reality!  This was a pretty amazing feat because the trajectory and velocity of the birds translated from the screen into the real world.

As crowds gathered to watch the blue birds split into three, blackbirds explode and pigs pop, the cell phones started coming out. People are calling and texting friends, taking pictures and shooting video on their phones. This leads into the marketing message of the video… You Can Join in the Fun Wherever You Are.

T-Mobile’s marketing team took that phrase and turned it into what I’m assuming will be a successful viral video. It’s not only sharable, but it’s fun enough to watch multiple times. The marketing message takes a backseat to the entertainment value, but the branding still comes through clear as day.  Digital high five to the online video marketing team at T-Mobile!

Justin’s Living Photo Album: A Trip Home to Indiana

On May 14th, Nancy and I loaded up the car and left Washington, DC for Indiana. Just because I had to put the video marketing on hold for a week, doesn’t mean I still didn’t want to do some video storytelling! Throughout the week, I used my trusty Canon 7D to grab a lot of images of friends, family and familiar places.
